S.O. 1998, CHAPTER 10

Consolidation Period: From June 26, 1998 to the e-Laws currency date.

Preamble

Ontario’s agriculture industry has always been and continues to be an important part of the province’s economy. Farming in Ontario dates back to before the time that the first Lieutenant Governor, the Honourable John Graves Simcoe, had the land in Upper Canada surveyed for the purpose of establishing farming homesteads for the early Loyalist settlers.

The food and other agricultural products that sustain our lives are the result of the skill, hard work and dedication of Ontario’s farming communities and farm families. It is important to recognize and acknowledge this ongoing contribution by Ontario farmers to the quality of life of all our citizens.

Thanksgiving Day is the annual day on which Ontarians express thanks for the bounties of the harvest. It is appropriate at that time to celebrate and acknowledge gratefully the work of Ontario farm families in providing Ontarians with the food they eat and the agricultural products they enjoy at Thanksgiving and throughout the year.

Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

Ontario Agriculture Week

1.The week beginning on the Monday immediately before Thanksgiving Day in each year is proclaimed as Ontario Agriculture Week. 1998, c. 10, s. 1.

2. Omitted (provides for coming into force of provisions of this Act). 1998, c. 10, s. 2.

3. Omitted (enacts short title of this Act). 1998, c. 10, s. 3.
